CODE SWITCHING AND CODE MIXING IN NOVELS NING CHILD PUPPER BY NIKEN-ANJAR: SOCIOLINGUSTIC STUDY
Abstract
ABSTRAC The aim of this research is to determine the forms of code switching and code mixing in the novel Ning Anak Wayang by Niken-Anjar. Methods and types of research used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis using reading, note-taking and observation techniques, followed by labeling the collected data. The research results provide information about code switching and code mixing. Code switching is divided into two types, namely internal and external. Internal code exchange totaling 17 data and external code exchange totaling 3 data. There are three types of code mixing data: external code mixing, internal code mixing, and mixed code mixing. External code mixing has 7 data, internal code mixing has 10 data, and mixed code mixing has 5 data. From the research results, it can be concluded that code switching and code mixing are used in stories to show the social identities of different characters in the story. This research has important implications for language and culture development in Indonesia. By knowing the use of code switching and language code mixing used in stories, it can help develop a broader and more open language. Apart from that, this research can also help understand social differences in Indonesian society which are reflected in language use.
