Utilizing platform-based learning is one of the crucial factors that can affect the success of the teaching-learning process. The platform-based learning must be attractive and positively impact students’ learning success. One of them is using platform based-learning. Kahoot! and Quizizz are instructional media-based Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that can be used in the classroom. This study aimed to identify students’ perceptions of utilizing Kahoot and Quizizz as online instructional media. Specifically, this study investigated students’ perception of using Kahoot! and Quizizz in the Advanced Communicative Grammar Skill course. This study applied qualitative descriptive research to collect the data from students’ perceptions of the fourth-semester students of the English department at STKIP Budidaya Binjai. The results demonstrated that students have favorable perceptions of Kahoot! and Quizizz as platforms-based learning in engaging students to learn English. It is evident from the number of instruments that the researchers distributed.  According to students' perceptions, Kahoot! and Quizizz are effective online quiz applications for teaching English. The score reached 1.684 as the maximum score.  The majority of students concurred that using Kahoot! and Quizizz as online quiz tools makes teaching and learning exciting, inspiring, and enjoyable.
