ABSTRACT Problem solving is something that is closely related to mathematics. Problem solving skills are needed in doing math learning. One of the learning models that teachers can use to improve student problem solving is problem-based learning. Problem-based learning is a learning model that provides learning opportunities for students to stimulate their problem-solving abilities. This article is a literature study to analyze the influence and role of problem-based learning models on problem solving skills in order to improve mathematics learning achievement of high school students. Based on the results of several studies related to the name of this research, it can be concluded that the use of problem-based learning models in mathematics subjects has an effect on improving students' mathematical problem solving skills and has been able to improve learning outcomes in mathematics subjects.
