This article aims to examine and analyze the quasi-experimental research design within the context of education. The quasi-experimental design is a method frequently employed to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions when randomization is not feasible. Through this literature review, we identify various approaches and techniques used in quasi-experimental research, as well as the challenges and advantages faced by researchers. Additionally, this study discusses the importance of internal and external validity in quasi-experimental designs and their implications for educational practice. The findings indicate that although this design has limitations, it remains a valuable tool for generating empirical evidence that can support decision-making in education. Populasi yang digunakan peneliti adalah siswa SMPN 14 BINJAI dan sampel siswa kelas VIII 5, dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan tes untuk mengukur kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi budaya lokal dalam pembelajaran matematika dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan dominasi kategori “baik”. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of several stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product developed is a set of student worksheets (LKPD) on integer material based on the RME approach to enhance mathematical problem-solving skills. The subjects of the trial were 30 seventh-grade students of SMP Abdi Maryke. The validation results showed that the average score from material experts was 0.87, categorized as <em>very valid</em>, and from design experts was 79.17%, categorized as <em>valid</em>. Based on the results of validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests, the practicality aspect obtained from students’ responses showed an average percentage of 0,90%, and from teachers’ responses 84.4%, both categorized as <em>good</em>. These findings indicate that the developed teaching materials can be categorized as <em>practical</em>. Furthermore, the effectiveness test using the N-Gain analysis showed an increase in problem-solving ability of 80.65%, categorized as <em>effective</em>. This is a quantitative study using a descriptive method. The research was conducted at MTs Aisyiyah Binjai with the population being all eighth-grade students. The sample was selected using simple random sampling, resulting in class VIII-A with 22 students as the research sample. The data collection technique used was a test, in the form of a worksheet containing two-dimensional shape materials integrated with Deli Malay ethnomathematics. The results of the analysis showed that the average percentage score of students’ conceptual understanding ability indicators was 65.77%, which falls into the “good” category. The highest percentage was found in the indicator of developing necessary or sufficient conditions of a concept, reaching 78.41%. This indicates that most students were able to understand and identify the conditions related to geometric concepts and could demonstrate the relationship between necessary and/or sufficient conditions in applying them to the given problems.</p>2025-11-11T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2025 Jurnal Serunai Matematika
