Abstract

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a strategic approach that aims to improve the quality of education in a sustainable manner. In the context of Islamic education, TQM becomes an important tool to deliver superior and competitive education. This article aims to examine the contribution of principal leadership in implementing and improving integrated quality management in Islamic education institutions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this article explores how principals can combine Islamic values with TQM principles in their leadership roles, such as focus on stakeholders, continuous improvement, and involvement of all parties. The results show that principals play a vital role in developing a national vision and mission based on Islamic values, improving teachers' competencies through relevant training, and maximising the management of school resources in advancing the education of their students. In addition, the principal acts as a facilitator in strengthening the synergy between the school, the community and other stakeholders in implementing TQM strategies in Islamic education including improving infrastructure, utilising technology and continually evaluating program. The principal's leadership factor determines the success of the educational institution he leads, especially in creating a quality culture that is oriented towards results and Islamic values.This article concludes that the principal is a change agent who plays an important role in ensuring the sustainability of the quality of Islamic education in an integrated manner.Recommendations are given to strengthen the training and leadership development of school principals, as well as expanding stakeholder participation in supporting the implementation of TQM in Islamic education in realising quality national education.
