ABSTRACT This study aims to develop an interactive digital-based advanced reading e-module to enhance academic literacy competencies among university students. Advanced reading skills encompass not only the comprehension of academic texts but also critical analysis, information synthesis, and evaluation of scholarly arguments. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology using the Borg and Gall model, which consists of six main stages: needs analysis, design, development, initial testing, product revision, and field testing. The research subjects were second-semester students from Class B at STKIP Budidaya Binjai, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results indicated that the e-module had a high level of validity, with an average score of 4.5 out of 5 based on expert evaluations in content and media. The implementation of the e-module demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ academic reading skills, with a 20% increase in text comprehension, a 20% increase in critical analysis, and a 27% increase in student engagement. Furthermore, interview responses revealed that students were more motivated to use the e-module due to its interactivity, which helped them better understand the structure of academic texts in a more systematic way. Thus, the interactive digital-based advanced reading e-module can serve as an innovative solution to improve academic literacy in higher education.
