PUBLICATION ETHICS

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers

  1. Determining the journal name, scope of knowledge, publication frequency, and accreditation submission when necessary, as well as determining editorial board membership.
  2. Defining the relationship between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties through a formal agreement.
  3. Respecting confidentiality of all contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  4. Enforcing norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  5. Reviewing journal policies and communicating them to authors, editorial boards, reviewers, and readers.
  6. Establishing codes of conduct and ethical guidelines for editors and reviewers.
  7. Publishing the journal on a regular and timely basis.
  8. Ensuring the availability of funding for the sustainability of journal publication.
  9. Building collaborative networks with research institutions and relevant agencies.
  10. Preparing permits and other legal aspects required for publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Meeting the needs of both readers and authors while continuously striving to improve publication quality.
  2. Implementing processes to ensure the quality of published manuscripts.
  3. Upholding freedom of objective opinion.
  4. Maintaining the integrity of the academic track record of authors.
  5. Issuing corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
  6. Being responsible for the writing style and format of scientific manuscripts, while the content and all statements within the manuscript remain the sole responsibility of the author.
  7. Actively seeking feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality.
  8. Conducting regular internal evaluations of the scientific journal's quality.
  9. Supporting author initiatives regarding publication ethics by including a clearance form with every manuscript submission.
  10. Remaining open-minded toward new opinions or views that may differ from personal positions, in the interest of advancing knowledge.
  11. Avoiding subjective decisions by not insisting on personal, author, or third-party opinions, and seeking solutions that are scientifically accountable.
  12. Encouraging authors to revise their manuscripts until they are suitable for publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Reviewing manuscripts and reporting the results to the editor as a basis for determining the eligibility of a manuscript for publication.
  2. Refraining from reviewing manuscripts in which they are involved, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Providing constructive suggestions, feedback, and recommendations on scientific manuscripts.
  4. Maintaining the privacy of authors by not disclosing correction results, suggestions, or recommendations regarding a manuscript.
  5. Encouraging authors to improve their manuscripts.
  6. Re-reviewing revised manuscripts in accordance with established standards.
  7. Completing manuscript reviews in a timely manner, in accordance with the journal's publication style and based on established scientific principles (data collection methods, author legitimacy, conclusions, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet the established authorship criteria.
  2. Taking collective responsibility for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and their details.
  3. Disclosing the origin of all resources used, including funding, whether direct or indirect.
  4. Explaining the limitations of the research.
  5. Responding to comments made by reviewers and the editorial board in a professional, scientifically sound, and timely manner.
  6. Informing the editor in writing if they wish to withdraw their manuscript.
  7. Declaring that the manuscript submitted for publication is original, has never been published anywhere in any language, and is not currently under consideration by another publisher.
