PENGGUNAAN MEDIA DIGITAL VIDEO DISC (DVD) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN SISWA TENTANG DEMOKRASI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN KEWARGANEGARAAN KELAS VII DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA NEGERI 11 BINJAI.

Abstract

  The purpose of this study was to increase students' understanding of democracy in Civics learning in class VII students of SMP Negeri 11 Binjai. This research method uses classroom action research (CAR). Classes are conducted in 2 cycles where each cycle consists of 4 meetings and 1 meeting at the end of the cycle test. The subjects in this study were class VII students of SMP Negeri 11 Binjai in the 2015/2016 academic year, consisting of 25 students. The data collection was carried out using the following methods: observation and written test. Observational data were carried out in two cycles consisting of 4 stages in each cycle, namely planning, implementing actions, observation, and reflection. The results of the research findings show that: Civics learning outcomes of students through classroom action research methods have increased learning outcomes, especially in the subject matter democracy cycle I obtained an average grade of 24% with 100% mastery. Learning motivation between students was 57.03% and student and teacher learning motivation was 85.94% and increased to 85.94% with learning mastery of 68.75%. Learning motivation between students is 78.91% and students' motivation with teachers is 80.86% in cycle II. So it can be concluded that there was an increase in class average scores from 82.03% to classical learning completeness from cycle I and cycle II of 2.86%. So there is no need to do cycle III. The conclusion from this study is that the use of Digital Video Disc (DVD) Media to increase students' understanding of Democracy in Civics Learning in Class VII Students of SMP Negeri 11 Binjai in the 2015/2016 Academic Year was successfully implemented.
