Abstract

This iresearch aims to idetermine idifferences iin istudents' imathematical iproblem isolving iabilities iusing problem ibased ilearning (PBL) iand project ibased ilearning (PJBL) ilearning imodels iin iclass VIII Mts Tarbiyah iIslamiyah iHinai iKiri. iThis iresearch is iquantitative iresearch. iThe type iof iresearch iused is iquasi-iexperimental iresearch iwith a ipretest-posttest icontrol igroup idesign. The ipopulation in ithis study iwere all istudents in iclass VIII iMts iTarbiyah iIslamiyah iHinai iKiri iwhich iconsisted iof 3 (three) iclasses iwith a itotal of 73 istudents. iThe sample ifor this iresearch was iclass VIII-1 ias iexperimental iclass I iwith 25 istudents iand iclass VIII-2 as iexperimental iclass II iwith 25 istudents. The iresearch iinstrument used iwas a itest (pretest and posttest) iof imathematical iproblem isolving iabilities. iThe idata ianalysis itechnique iuses iSPSS-iVersion 22 isoftware iwith ithe t test. iThe iresults of ithis iresearch indicate ithat there iare idifferences in istudents' mathematical iproblem isolving iabilities iusing the iProblem iBased iLearning and iProject iBased iLearning learning models. As proven by the results of the hypothesis, namely the value of tcount > ttable (7.852 > 1.677), the hypothesis H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there are differences in students' mathematical problem solving abilities using the Problem Based Learning and Project Based Learning learning models in social arithmetic material in the classroom.
