Abstract

This study aims to determine the development process of teaching materials on integer topics based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving skills that are valid, practical, and effective for seventh-grade students at SMP Abdi Maryke. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of several stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The product developed is a set of student worksheets (LKPD) on integer material based on the RME approach to enhance mathematical problem-solving skills. The subjects of the trial were 30 seventh-grade students of SMP Abdi Maryke. The validation results showed that the average score from material experts was 0.87, categorized as very valid, and from design experts was 79.17%, categorized as valid. Based on the results of validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests, the practicality aspect obtained from students’ responses showed an average percentage of 0,90%, and from teachers’ responses 84.4%, both categorized as good. These findings indicate that the developed teaching materials can be categorized as practical. Furthermore, the effectiveness test using the N-Gain analysis showed an increase in problem-solving ability of 80.65%, categorized as effective. Therefore, the teaching material in the form of LKPD based on the Realistic Mathematics Education approach developed in this study is declared valid, practical, and effective.
